Denali National Park

Carol and I arrived at Denali on Monday June 7 around 10:00 am under partly sunny skies and decided to take a bus tour out into the park. We took the bus out to Eielson and back which was around a four hour trip one way. They stopped at several locations on the way and would also stop if any wildlife was seen. Most of the wildlife we saw was far away and not much chance for some good wildlife shots although we did have a lynx close but I was not able to get a good shot. The next two days were mostly cloudy with intermitted rain so we decide to drive to Fairbanks on Tuesday and found the weather mostly sunny and visited some birding areas and did some laundry. On Wednesday we went to the visitor center and went to see the sled dogs and learned about the use of the dogs in the past and their current use. Our final day at Denali was mostly sunny and we went on a six or so mile hike toward the back of the park where we were able to see the Mt. Denali which is only seen by about 20 percent of visitors because it is usually covered by clouds. Tomorrow (Friday) we head back to Anchorage and then home early Sunday Morning.
