The Yellow-fringed Orchid

Last Saturday July 24th I got up early and headed east to Shawnee State Forest looking for another orchid to photograph. Knowing it was going to be really hot and humid by the afternoon I was hoping to find it and get back home before the heat of the day. With good directions from Dan Boone I had no problem finding the Yellow-fringed Orchid. I usually would not drive that far for just one plant but I have missed this one for several years so I decided to make the trip. Sure was worth the driving seeing and photographing this rare species. While there I also noticed it was a good year for butterflies, they seemed everywhere.
